Course 2 · Build it.

Go from a React prototype to a secure, billable, monitored SaaS.

One real application, taken all the way to production: React and TypeScript, a Node.js API, PostgreSQL, authentication, Stripe subscriptions, Docker, Nginx with TLS, and GitHub Actions CI/CD — with logging, backups, and rollback.

Outcomes

What you'll be able to do

Design for production

Choose a pinned stack, plan the architecture, and separate config from code the twelve-factor way.

Build the app

A typed React front end, a validated Node.js API, and a PostgreSQL schema with safe migrations.

Handle identity

Secure authentication, role-based and object-level authorization, and the full account lifecycle.

Charge for it

Stripe test-mode subscriptions with verified, idempotent webhooks and lifecycle handling.

Ship it

Docker Compose, a Linux VPS, Nginx with TLS, and a GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline with rollback.

Operate it

Structured logs, health checks, alerting, tested backups, and an incident runbook.

Curriculum

Twelve modules, one deployed capstone

Tap any module to expand it. Each builds on the last toward a live, documented application.

1. Production mindset and project architecture
What changes from prototype to production; the reference architecture; pinning the stack; twelve-factor config; capstone planning.
2. React and TypeScript application structure
Strict TypeScript, feature-based folders, routing, a typed API client, state, and validated forms.
3. Node.js API architecture and validation
Layered design, typed request validation, consistent errors, config, logging, versioning, pagination.
4. PostgreSQL data modeling and migrations
Relational modeling for SaaS, a query layer, migrations, constraints, seeding, and safe schema evolution.
5. Authentication, authorization, and account lifecycle
Sessions vs tokens, secure passwords, BOLA-safe authorization, verification and reset, deletion and export, rate limiting.
6. SaaS billing with Stripe and optional PayPal
Pricing models, Checkout vs Payment Element, the customer portal, verified idempotent webhooks, lifecycle, refunds and legal notes.
7. Testing frontend, backend, and integration paths
The test pyramid, unit tests, API integration, component tests, e2e smoke tests, and safe fixtures.
8. Docker and reproducible development
Containers explained, Dockerfiles, Compose for local dev, multi-stage builds, container secrets, dev/prod parity.
9. Linux VPS, Nginx, TLS, and deployment
Server hardening, Docker on the server, running the stack, Nginx reverse proxy, Let's Encrypt TLS, DNS, and rollback.
10. GitHub Actions CI/CD and release management
CI fundamentals, lint/typecheck/test/build, image builds, continuous deployment, environments and secrets, release checklist.
11. Security, performance, observability, and backups
Secure defaults and secrets, edge hardening, performance, structured logs and health checks, alerting, backups and restore, incident response.
12. Capstone launch, documentation, and maintenance
Scope and success criteria, a final audit, documentation and handoff, launch, maintenance policy, and reflection.

Questions

FAQ

Do I need prior DevOps experience?

No. The course assumes basic JavaScript/React and teaches production step by step, from local containers to a live HTTPS deployment.

Which stack is used?

React and TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Docker Compose, Nginx, GitHub Actions, and Stripe in test mode. The concepts transfer to other choices.

Do I need to pay for a server?

A small VPS is the reference target; a managed-platform path is also shown. Most of the course is completed locally before deploying.

Does it use real payment credentials?

No. All billing demonstrations use Stripe test mode and fictional data only.

Do you guarantee a job or income?

No. This is an educational course. It produces a deployed, demonstrable capstone; it does not promise employment or income.
